October 28, 2005 marked Screamin' Mimi's 10 year anniversary. We decided to
celebrate a couple of different ways.
April of 2005 we participated in the Apple Blossom Parade and won 1st Place
with our float, conceived by Art Director Nicola Neidermier. We were fortunate
to have several hard working Analy students participate by dancing non-stop
behind the float for the entire parade. Lead by dance instructor and Screamin
Mimi's employee Charlotte Nehm, they earned every ounce of free ice cream they
received and more. The solo male dancer was none other then our solo male
employee at the time, Tom Polley. They were a stellar group of performers.
That day we gave away 800 samples of our ice cream to anyone who "Screamed for
Ice cream!"
We then revised the float to participate in the Rose parade in Santa Rosa in
mid May. At this event we gave away over 1500 samples of ice cream to happy
onlookers!
The Friday after Thanksgiving was Free Ice Cream Day. Because it was
Thanksgiving weekend we knew past employees would be home visiting. So we got
them back for a few hours to celebrate, work and eat while we gave way ice
cream and collected donations for local and worldwide charities. Focusing on
children, we chose to collect funds for Food Bank of the Redwoods, COTS, the
public schools in Sebastopol and Africare. We were able to collect over $1200
between the groups. We also served over 3000 cones that day as a thank you to
Sonoma County for supporting us and voting us Sonoma County's Best Ice cream
every year since we opened in 1995.
Over the years we have had such great employees work at Screamin Mimi's. We
were so lucky to have so many volunteer to come back that day and help us.
From our first employees hired to the most recent, Screamin' Mimi's is Sonoma
County's best ice cream because of their efforts when doing their jobs. We are
so fortunate to know these people who started as employees and became friends.
We look forward to the next 10 years in Sonoma County. We are already planning
the celebrations!
